Background:

Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international, non-profit, non-governmental, nonreligious humanitarian organization established in 1991 and working in 37 countries around the world. It is headquartered in South Korea. GNI has fundraising offices in the USA, Korea, and Japan, and an International Cooperation Office in Geneva. GNI currently implements 318 community development projects (CDPs), covering a variety of areas including rural development, income generation, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, child education, protection, disaster risk reduction as well as advocacy and network building to improve the impact of the projects, thereby benefitting approximately 16.8 million people, including 9.6 million children. Good Neighbors International is working in Nepal since 2002 in community development sector. GNI Nepal has been working in Nepal since 2002 with the objective of improving lives of poor people, especially children through education, income generating activities, health services, child protection, disaster risk reduction, advocacy and network building. Currently, GNI Nepal has been operating in 14 districts.

The Assistant Manager – Liaison and Coordination will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Division, Program Development and in close coordination with all divisions, departments, area/district/project offices and implementing partners.

Job Description

1. Strategic relation with donors
• Compile and maintain donor’s profile regularly and identify bidding opportunities matching the working area/s of GNI Nepal.
• Develop and strengthen donor relationships, ensuring that the organization maintains effective communications with prospective donors.
• Keep the organization up-to-date on changing donor priorities and ensure that new funding opportunities are identified and shared with the senior management team in a timely manner.

2. Coordination, Liaison and Communication
• Coordinate with the implementing partners and Government line agencies to enhance functional relationships and maintain optimum level of shared understanding among all stakeholders.
• Support GNI Nepal’s Area/District Offices for joint planning of annual implementation plan with all implementing partners.
• Organize sharing/learning meetings, seminars, and workshops at different levels. • Provide necessary updates on work progress to the steering committee and support to take appropriate decisions for smooth implementation of the designed activities.
• Conduct regular meeting with the executive committees of the implementing partners in consultation with the steering committee.
• Compile updates on Government’s policies and guidelines and cascade the information to relevant thematic departments.
• Support Area Office and District Office in overall coordination with Government and other relevant line agencies and ensure successful implementation of project.
• Provide updated information to implementing partners regularly for taking appropriate decision for project implementation.

3. Capacity Enhancement
• Collect specific data and information (legal, administrative, technical) about the implementing partners.
• Develop standard operating procedures and training packages (including trainer and participant manuals) based on contents, methodologies, tools and approaches to capacitate implementing partners. • Design training events to respond to the identified demand
. • Facilitate GNI Nepal’s Area Office and District Office to conduct training, workshop, and seminars for capacity development of implementing partners
. • Compile the final report of each event, analyze it, and provide constructive feedback for quality improvement.

4. Knowledge Management
• Contribute to knowledge management by preparing best practices through case studies, audio/visual clips.
• Keep institutional memory of all the information related to implementing partners.
• Support in knowledge transfer and exchange methods and practices to implementing partners through presentations, training materials, tips and best practices for continuous performance improvement.

5. General
• Conduct field visit as and when required.
• Carry out other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Job Specification:

• University degree in mass communication, journalism or any related field with five years of experience in public relation, communications or advocacy.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills – articulate and diplomatic. Ability to interact with diverse groups and to communicate effectively with professionals, and a demonstrated ability to consult, influence and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to identify problems and seek solutions.
Fluent in writing and speaking English and Nepali
• Able to work in a team and under pressure
• Good knowledge of and skills on MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT,etc.), Photoshop and video editing.

The coordinator- Livelihood will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Department, Livelihood and in close coordination with all divisions, departments, area/district offices and implementing partners.

Job Description

A. Program Design and Implementation
• Gather information from implementing partners, communities and conduct research to identify areas for intervention and prioritize them.
• Design income-generation and livelihood schemes (e.g. micro-finance and microentrepreneurship schemes, challenge fund programs, etc).
• Develop detailed implementation plans (monthly, quarterly and annual) for all livelihood projects.
• Develop concepts/proposals for new projects.
• Coordinate and supervise area/district office and implementing partners for the implementation of the activities.
• Review and validate documents from area/district offices.
• Supervise and monitor implementation of projects to ensure quality and timely delivery of project outputs.
• Prepare job descriptions of project staff including consultants, researchers and volunteers.

B. Policies and Procedures
• Assist the Head of Department, Livelihood to develop and revise departmental policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures
• Monitor the activities of the field staff as per the policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

C. Coordination
• Coordinate, collaborate and organize meeting with various stakeholders.
• Coordinate for economic analysis of proposed enterprises and value chain.
• Develop and strengthen network with national and local level stakeholders (Ministry of Agriculture Development, Ministry of Livestock Development, 3 Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Cottage and Small Industry Development Board, Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Agro- Enterprise Development Center (AEC), Micro Finance Institution (MFIs), civil societies, business development service providers and private sector.
• Coordinate with departments, area/district offices and implementing partner in facilitating/backstopping services for capacity building.

D. Capacity Building
• Identify institutes/organizations, experts, and trainers for capacity development of project partners, cooperatives and farmers according to department strategies.
• Design, develop and update training package, module for business plan of micro enterprise.
• Support to revise business plan of selected entrepreneurs with the aspect of business growth and design advance package of technical/vocational training to improve the quality and quantity, and assist in leveling and packaging.
• Provide guidance to cooperatives through training or other means.
• Organize workshops on financial services for the member co-operatives.
• Enhance capacity of field staffs on technical skill, business development skill and business plan preparation.
• Support communities in capacity building, market information, business establishment and linkages for undertaking income generation activities and other productive end uses.

E. Research and Survey
• Carry out studies in the area of assessing economic potential and opportunities for: o New businesses o Financial analysis services to the entrepreneurs o Market linkages of rural products.
• Conduct preliminary study, feasibility study and baseline survey for new projects, and project activities.
• Conduct research study on various aspects of micro-enterprise and cooperative development and provide recommendation to organization as well as implementing partner.

F. Reporting
• Design program/work plan and reporting system.
• Produce periodic reports and document best practices and lessons learnt. • Collect and analyse reports obtained from area/district offices and implementing partners.

G. Market Linkages
• Assist to develop linkage with business development service (BDS) providers and market for selected microenterprises.
• Support to explore business opportunities along with the value chain of selected commodity(s).
• Provide technical assistance to newly created businesses, and support market and BDS linkages.

H. Monitoring and Feedback
• Develop monitoring and evaluation tools and monitor project activities against the targets.
• Supervise and monitor implementation of projects to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects outputs.
• Visit the field as and when necessary to monitor the progress of program implementation.

I. Other Duties
• Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Required Skills and Experience:
• Master degree Agriculture, Forestry, Rural Development, Management or in a relevant field from recognized university
• Minimum three years of experience in sustainable livelihood, commercial agriculture production, micro-enterprise development and marketing.
• Experience in upgrading agro value chain through enhanced private sector engagement.
• Experience in working with entrepreneurs, farmers group, cooperatives and CBOs.
• Experience in strengthening linkages and competiveness of market systems for agriculture product.
• Professional knowledge on business plan development for on and off farm based micro enterprise.
• Demonstrated technical, intellectual skills, and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of the English language along with written, presentation, and communication skills.

Position: Coordinator- Advocacy

The Advocacy Coordinator will work under direct supervision of the Head of Division, Program Development and in close coordination with all divisions, departments, area/district/project offices and implementing partners.

Job Description

1. Advocacy and networking
• Enhance coordination with relevant organizations through meeting, orientations and workshops
• Participate in meetings with the Government and key stakeholders, build relationships, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
• Support to manage local level advocacy initiatives
• Synchronize district and community level advocacy activities with national level advocacy issues

2. Planning
• Identify advocacy issues in the working communities and determine advocacy priorities
• Establish meaningful engagement with the stakeholders through managing partnership with respective line agencies
• Develop advocacy strategy, guidelines, and manuals
• Develop evidence based messages and disseminate them through appropriate massmedia.
• Develop advocacy related concept notes and proposals
• Develop Information Education and Communication (IEC) and Behavioral Change Communication (BCC) materials such as success stories, fact sheets, posters, booklets, brochures, material for newsletters, and audio-visual tools

3. Implementation

• Organize consultation meetings at the district/national level to implement advocacy activities
• Coordinate with media teams to capture GNI Nepal’s advocacy activities
• Coordinate with the thematic departments to ensure that the advocacy work reflects 3 GNI Nepal’s priorities
• Take lead in planning, organizing, facilitating, and building capacity on advocacy activities

4. Documentation, monitoring and reporting
• Document best practices related to advocacy with an aim of influencing advocacy issues at local as well as national level
• Track, monitor, and document progress and status of advocacy related activities
• Update website and social media regularly

Job Specification
• University degree in development studies, communication, journalism or a related field with three years of experience in advocacy and policy development
• Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and manage events such as meeting, workshop, conferences, and seminar as well as transfer knowledge and skills
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills – articulate and diplomatic
